Murder
Ahoy (1964) – G. Pollock
Margaret Rutherford is the whole show,
starring as Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple in what appears to be the 4th
in a series of British films of the early 60’s.
This is not the BBC’s Miss Marple – Rutherford puts some muscle into the
part and her own eccentric charm. The
plot involves a naval program for juvenile delinquents for which Marple becomes
a trustee. Fishy business and murder
means she gets a chance to investigate – with and without the police, who seem
to know her well. Jaunty outing (perhaps
because of the score) and fun in a time-killing way. Hard to guess the culprit.
